SUMMARY
In class we learned how to work with musical concepts and theory, what makes a song great. And, somewhat more important we learned how to apply these concepts without wearing ourselves out.
FINAL PROJECT
Final Rubric (Google Docs) (20 Points)
When composing my final it took me a while to get a base that I wanted to work on and so now I understand that the best way to start is often the simplest way to start as long as you do get started. In the end I am pretty happy with how it turned out, I don’t think it’s the best song in the world but it isn’t a monstrosity.

MICROPHONE RECORDING PROJECT
When doing my microphone recording project I learned first, how my voice sounds to people around me and second, how to make cuts and perfect an audio recording. I think this was my favorite project because of the amount of problem solving that there was to do when making cuts smooth.

Learning about music theory was equally important as it was borin- I mean exciting I discovered what makes music sound good to people including myself and what makes my favorite songs so popular. I definitely enjoyed this segment of class because it helped me understand the different layers in music.

STUDIO (SONGWRITING)
While working with songwriting I learned that not all parts in music fit together and it allowed me to try out musical ideas that I had in my head. The studio was often the most chill part of class but was also one of the most important to the class getting more and more important toward the end.

CONTROL ROOM (RECORDING & MIXING)
Learning about recording and mixing in the control room was definitely an interesting topic as it is all about finding the right balance and giving the music its flavor. Often the quality of the music is deeply affected by the mixing that is done.

I found it fun seeing some of my peers music and seeing other people’s music tastes and directing the details. The stage taught us to observe the different parts of a piece and determine whether we liked them or not.

WHAT I LEARNED and PROBLEMS I SOLVED
This class taught me a lot of stuff about what goes into music and taught me how to try and follow through when creating. Many times I tried to create music and ended up stopping before it truly progressed but now I believe that I can better complete a musical thought.
THE COURSE’s ACTIVITY EVALUATION (OVERALL)
Content (The WHAT)
Rating: OK – 1 – 2 – 3 – 4 – 5 – HIGHLY ENGAGED
Rating: 5
I liked learning about all the technical bits of how you can make different parts clearer or change it’s texture and I enjoyed learning about how the brain works to create music.
Process (The HOW)
Rating: OK – 1 – 2 – 3 – 4 – 5 – HIGHLY ENGAGED
Rating: 5
I enjoyed the pacing that was used when we learned in class though sometimes I felt that we didn’t do everything in the blogs in class which often confused me especially on the earlier days.
